Disney Springs is the commercial area around Lake Buena Vista that used to be called Downtown Disney, Lake Buena Vista Village, and Pleasure Island...
Unlike the parks, this area has no entry fee. It specializes in restaurants, clubs, shops, theaters, and other forms of entertainment.
It can be reached by car from the Orlando area or by foot or boat from several of the WDW resorts.
In 1971, as an architectural draftsman/designer with WED Enterprises (now Walt Disney Imagineering), I worked on the portion then known as Lake Buena Vista Village.
